YOGA that welcomes
you as you are

Meet Madeleine
Yoga Instructor
When you enter my class, I want you to feel fully welcomed and respected as you are. I believe that the practice of yoga must be continuously adapted to meet the needs of the individual, including physical and mental capacities, priorities and goals, season of life and even time of day. The style of yoga I teach is not concerned with the external look of a pose. Instead, we focus on how the poses can support functional movement in the body, facilitate neural repatterning, and lay the groundwork for integration of mind, body and soul.
I've been studying yoga since 1999, and teaching since 2004. Most of my recent studies have been focused on the methodology taught by TKV Desikachar, transmitted via my teacher, Mirka Kraftsow, co-founder of the American Viniyoga Institute in Maui. Mr. Desikachar spent his life distilling the aspects of yoga that he believed could be exported to the West with integrity, and have benefit outside the cultural context of South Asia in which it was founded. I take the responsibility, as a yoga teacher in the west, of teaching in a way that honors but does not appropriate this sacred work very seriously.
The style of yoga I teach is not concerned with the external look of a pose.
Madeleine Lohman, founder and instructor of MADYOGA
